MACOMB, IL – Jason Lytle, a police officer in the Â鶹´«Ã½ Illinois University Office of Public Safety (OPS), has been named the Â鶹´«Ã½ Illinois University Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for July.

Lytle was hired at Â鶹´«Ã½ in 2000. Since that time, he has taken on additional duties, including becoming a firearms instructor at OPS.

He was nominated for the Employee of the Month award for his investigation of two theft cases. The first case resulted in seven people being referred to the University's judicial program and a change to a business practice by an outside vendor to prevent future thefts. Lytle also helped recover a letter that was stolen from the sign in front of the Alumni House.

"Jason has shown commitment, enthusiasm and exceptional performance," his nominator said. "He represents OPS in a positive manner."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque. The Â鶹´«Ã½ Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year.

Â鶹´«Ã½ faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Alisha Barnett at aa-Barnett@wiu.edu.
